wireless router for cable internet?

I have Comcast cable TV, Internet and phone package. I would like to have a wireless connection to my laptop and desktop. 1. If I try to do it with a router, which will affect the speed? (The wireless connection will slower than direct connection to the computer?) 2. which is the best router (speed, reliability and thanks created?) to advance
