How can burn DVD's on a Archos AV400?

I try to help my father a copy of some of their favorite DVDs on your ARCHOS and none of us are technically minded! He says you can record from a VCR, but not DVD, but the video is so obsolete, so I do not understand! The Archos is a new device. Does anyone know how to do this or to buy additional accessories? Every child, but only gives instructions for recording TV satellite / VCR. Any geeks welcome! Thank you.

I would like to copy the DVD on my computer and convert them to play on the Arcos. you need to know what types of files on your player supports Tho first.
